[00:00:00] So today I want to briefly talk about the best SEO decision I made and the one I think maybe you are considering as well. And the only thing I am regretting is that I made it that late. So of course the decision is that I decided to become an independent SEO consultant and I gave up all the SEO jobs I had.
[00:00:26] So I made that decision last year, October 2022, and from November the 1st, I officially became an independent SEO consultant. And for a long time, I think for about less than a year, half a year or so, I had two jobs and I was an SEO consultant with some clients. Then I had one job and I was an SEO consultant and then at some point I was so overworked and so frustrated with working for someone else that I decided that, okay, it's time to do it.
[00:01:05] My earnings will probably be smaller. I had to wait. I waited until the moment where half of my earnings came from clients and half came from the agency. And the impossible happened. When I quit. I almost instantly, I kind of opened a new path for me. I instantly had a lot of more time for my own projects, for like growing my brand, sharing my new tutorials, sharing videos, creating my SEO podcast.
[00:01:40] I instantly had so much time. And I used that time to simply do what I love. So write, record, share, network with other SEOs on social media. And the impossible happened, after I think a month I landed one new client, after two months I landed another client or two, and basically within, I think, 60 days. Not only did I match the income I had from the SEO agency, but I even exceeded that.
[00:02:14] And the trend with my income has been upwards since then. And the only thing I'm wondering, why have I done it so late? I could have made that decision at least. a year before that. But maybe I needed that experience, maybe I needed to kind of be sure that this is not the place for me, this is not the place to grow.
[00:02:38] For me, being someone else's type of employee and not being able to do SU my own way because I know that my way, at least in my cases, my clients works and I simply felt that I'm becoming stupid and I am like limited and I cannot really spread my wings. And the moment I became an, an SEO consultant, it was like the biggest dream just came true.
[00:03:08] I had a lot of fears about the money. They were not really grounded. If you know what you're doing, and you are in this SEO community, and you really, kind of, go there, network, people know you. If you have a bad month or something like that, usually you can just reach out to your colleagues saying that, listen, I don't have a lot of clients right now, maybe you can refer me to someone.
[00:03:38] Very often you will have people refer you to someone else. And if you are really a passionate SEO, you can really become an SEO consultant. You just need some experience, you need to learn a few things regarding like running small business, regarding organization, but those are the things you can easily learn and they are usually way, I would say, easier than SEO that you are doing.
[00:04:06] So if you are considering that, I strongly recommend that you take that step. You can have some backup plan, but don't just put off this decision because fear. SEO community is awesome. I remember, like, last year there was this situation where my content was stolen and, uh, resold. Uh, some of you probably remember.
[00:04:33] I was devastated, furious, angry, whatnot. And on some point, so many A very well known SEOs reached out to me like privately and some of them offered that Olga, we can do a fund and collect funds for you, uh, so that you can pay for a lawyer to register your trademark, all your work. And this was so awesome.
[00:04:59] incredible. Of course, I didn't use that opportunity because I had the means to kind of pay for the lawyer myself. But that willingness of those people, that was really incredible. And it kind of helped me believe that I can really do that. I can be an independent SEO consultant because this was at the moment when I was still considering that option.
[00:05:23] So I hope this gave you some power to become an independent SEO consultant. I am very happy to be one and this is definitely something I will be doing for the rest of my life.
